I will use media language to create a show which will reflect the crime genre and techniques, while setting it apart from the rest. Using my textual analysis, I found techniques that fit the genre; including eerie locations and a second narrative strand that is often linked to relationships. This will be shown through the relationship between the main girl and her adoptive mother. As well as this, the lighting and colour will reflect a typical crime drama with lowkey lighting and sepia filters in the flashback alongside highkey/normal lighting for the every day scene. I will also use certain camera angles that I picked up on through my research, such as close ups to portray emotion and long shots to set the scene. Fast-paced editing is also often used to build suspense in crime dramas, so I will take this on board for my own show and the way I edit the climactic scene.
My show represents a range of people, with the two main characters being of different ethnicities. In addition to this, the women are shown in different ways. The adoptive mother is nurturing but also goes out to work, and the young girl is quite independent. She is strong-minded and able to ignore the messages from her real mother. However, she could also be seen as weak and victimised when she is taken at the end.I will target my intended audience through the recognisable themes of crime dramas, including a lot of enigma so that the millennials don't get bored or distracted, beginning with the opening sequence of iconography that relates to the programme - such as the letters and the necklace. This will have the audience asking questions from the very beginning. As well as this, the main character will be a relatable and easily identifiable character for 18-25 year old women.
It will conform to its industry context as I've used features of other ITV crime dramas to influence my decisions, such as the comfortable location of home contrasted with the eerie feel of the street, as well as the sort of lighting to use for a flashback scene. However I will also apply repetition and difference so that the audience members do not get bored.
I will explore convergence through the production of a magazine alongside the television show. The front cover of my magazine will include both of the main characters, with the title in a handwriting font to link to the letters in the show.

(blzee)The magazine font will be the same as in Sophia's letters which are shown in the opening sequence and first scene:
